AAFM Member Major General Fred Stoss and Mr. Al Buckles
I was honored to officiate restoral of tail 63-8049 at the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum. 8049 was an EC-135C from the Cold War era, and was part of the Looking Glass fleet, serving as an alternate airborne nuclear command center. Looking Glass aircrews and maintainers kept this mission in continuous airborne operations for over 29 years, ending continuous flights in 1990. An incredible team of volunteers did a remarkable job restoring 8049. Awesome history...well done SAC & Aerospace Museum! Al Buckles and I stand by the station crewed by an General Officer, called (and still called) the Airborne Emergency Action Officer. #aerospace #historymatters #nuclearweapons
