Comment:  First link is the original article... requires a subscription.  Second link is the text and cites the first link.  My first assignment after leaving missiles was the Industrial Facilities contracting shop at WPAFB where one of our many tasks was to analyze and provide the recommended means to manufacture A-10 High Explosive Incindary (HEI) rounds out of depleted uranium.  The A-10 gun was also something we really got a look at just how it operates!  Exciting stuff.    The second article below gives a great description of what it is like to fly the A-10 and fire that amazing gun.  The last link is a video of how the gun works.  In between are links to the Demo Team and the Team Commander.
